Report on the scientific research work: 277 p., 86 figures, 34 tables, 183 references.

The object of the research is the minerals of endogenous rare metal deposits and ore occurrences of the Ukrainian Shield, in which minerals that usually occur in subordinate quantities and do not form industrial deposits act as concentrators of rare metals. These include the Azov Zr-REE deposit, the Anadol REE ore occurrence (both objects are located in the Azov megablock), petalite pegmatites of the Shpolka-Tashlyk ore district (Ingul megablock), the Perha Zn-Be deposit of the Volyn megablock, the main ore mineral of which is represented by genthelvite, Zhovtorichensk U-V-Sc deposit (Ingul megablock).

The purpose of the work is to reveal the peculiarities of the mineral composition and conditions of formation of the mentioned objects, which caused the industrial accumulation of atypical minerals-concentrations of rare metals in the Ukrainian Shield compared to the traditional composition of ores in other places of the planet.

Research methods – X-ray phase, electron microprobe (JCXA-733 microanalyzer, JEOL JSM-6700F scanning electron microscope with JED-2300 ED spectrometer), thermobarometric, cryometric, gas analytical, ICP-MS method for determining REE and rare elements (Element-2 analyzer), x-ray luminescence, photoluminescence, infrared spectroscopy; optical examination of minerals was carried out using polarizing microscopes, MIN-9, Polmi A (Karl Zeiss Jena) and a stereo microscope SZM-45T2 of the Zoom series, and for transmitted light photography a digital camera Power Shot A630 (Canon) was used (all at the M.P. Semenenko Institute of geochemistry, mineralogy and ore formation of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine). Outside the institute, a JEOL JSM-6510LA scanning electron microscope with a JED-2200 ED spectrometer (IPGG RAS, St. Petersburg, Russia) was used to study zircon, and the content of REE and rare elements was determined using a Cameca IMS-4f ion probe. The size of the studied areas did not exceed 20 μm in diameter; the relative error of most elements was 10-15%, the sensitivity was 10 ppb on average (YB of PTIAS, Yaroslavl, Russia). The crystallization temperature of zircon was determined using a titanium thermometer.

The results obtained. Deposits in which the concentrators of REE and other rare metals are atypical minerals formed specific initial conditions. Superimposed flows of CO2 fluids played an important role in the formation of deposits: they took part in the formation of a new type of ore: petalite, REE carbonates (mainly bastnesite), crystallization of genthelvite, etc.
