Geochemical criteria for selection of environmental risk zones in the territory of Ukraine

The object of the study is the ecological risk zones of the territory of Ukraine.

The purpose of the work is to establish geochemical criteria for the selection of ecological risk zones in the territory of Ukraine.

Research methods are a complex of analytical methods: chemical, spectral, atomic absorption, ion-selective, ICP-MS and others. To determine the main forms of migration of chemical elements - thermodynamic calculations and results of experimental works.

During the development of geochemical criteria, monitoring of the environment (surface and bottom sediments, natural watersand vegetation) was carried out. The regularities of the distribution of chemical elements and the peculiarities of their geochemical behavior in the trophic chain during the forecasting of the ecological and geochemical situation have been studied. The specialization of technogenicaland natural geochemical anomalies was established, which made it possible to determine the intensity and degree of pollution. It was determined that the soils of the territories under the influence of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy enterprises and metalworking, chemical industry contain heavy metals in quantities that are tens and hundreds of times higher than the natural geochemical background. The soils of industrial and residential areas are the most polluted with heavy metals directly near the territories of metallurgical enterprises, and to a lesser extent - under the influence of the chemical industry and mechanical engineering. Regarding natural geochemical anomalies, the main elements of the input are arsenic, fluorine, mercury, and radon. With the help of geochemical criteria, natural and technogenical,factors were identified and their influence on the occurrence and course of endemic diseases was determined.
