ABSTRACT
Report on the research project: 296 p., 9 chapters, 44 tables, 81 figures, 236 references.
The object of the research: soil sediments, bottom sediments of water reservoirs, and vegetation on the research sites of the cities of Mariupol, Alchevsk, Kamianske, Zaporizhzhia, and Kostiantynivka.
The purpose of the research is to investigate the distribution of trace elements in environmental objects in the territories under the influence of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy and to establish the physical and chemical conditions of technogenic geochemical anomalies formation.
Research methods: general chemical analysis, mineralogical, granulometric, potentiometric, atomic absorption, mass spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma, mathematical, statistical, and cartographic processing methods.
Geochemical approaches of a complex study of environmental objects under the influence of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy enterprises are formulated, taking into account the landscape and geochemical conditions of the territory. Maps-schemes of the heavy metals distribution in soils at the research sites were constructed and geochemical associations of man-made anomalies were determined.
The peculiarities of the formation of man-made geochemical anomalies of heavy metals in contaminated soils depending on their physical and chemical characteristics (pH, cation exchange capacity, organic content, particle size composition) were revealed.
Experimental data on the buffering capacity of soils, which decreases 5-10 times in contaminated soils, were obtained. Features of the formation of heavy metals are revealed: the content of mobile forms increases, which increases the environmental risk of pollutants entering the trophic chain. The biogeochemical and microbiological indicators of soils, characteristic of technogenic geochemical anomalies formed under the influence of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, were calculated.
Modeling of the process of complex formation of heavy metals in soil solutions of surface deposits of technologically polluted territories was carried out. It was established that the main forms of migration are hydrated metal cations.
Modified composite sorbents are proposed for reducing the flow of mobile forms of heavy metals in the soil-solution-plant trophic chain.
The results of the research can be used by business entities, management and environmental protection organizations in the ecological assessment of the environmental components of the urbanized territories of Ukraine.
