Report on the SRW: 1 book, 86 pages, 31 illustrations, 22 tables, 43 references.
The object of the research is a collection of samples of hematite ores of Kryvyi Rih, samples from the tailings deposits of the "Pivnichna" mine named after V.A. Valyavko.
The purpose of the work: Creation of a complex of laboratory equipment for testing new methods of producing iron ore concentrates from difficult-to-enrich iron ore raw materials, which includes a gas generator for obtaining reducing gases, a reactor for converting weakly magnetic iron oxides and hydroxides into strongly magnetic magnetite, and a separator for separating ore and non-ore minerals in iron ore raw materials.
Research methods and equipment: magnetometry method (Hall sensor magnetometer), X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (ARL Optim'X WD), X-ray diffraction method (DRON-4M), thermomagnetic studies, NGR spectroscopy.
Results and their novelty: An operational laboratory installation for the transformation of weakly magnetic iron ores into strongly magnetic ores by heating in the presence of starch and an installation for burning ores in a reducing gas environment was created. A device was created for the separation of strongly magnetic iron ores in an alternating magnetic field. The regimes of phase transformations of a collection of samples and model samples of hematite-quartz in a gaseous environment were investigated. The optimal time, temperature, amount of solid fuel, flow rate of reducing gases for the hematite-magnetite phase transformation were determined. X-ray diffraction confirmed that hematite transforms into magnetite. The technological indicators obtained by the created beneficiation method and with standard methods of beneficiation of iron ores were calculated and it was shown that the yield of iron ore concentrate by the created method (66.1%) is higher than this indicator for standard methods, and the concentration of iron in the concentrate is higher (69.7 %). The mechanisms of phase transformations of weakly magnetic iron-containing minerals in a gaseous environment are formulated. The novelty of the obtained results is that the conversion procedure does not require high temperatures and large amounts of reducing agents.
Recommendations for using the results of the work: the obtained results can be used to solve the problems of processing iron ores of Kryvyi Rih, and to solve environmental problems of Kryvyi Rih.
