Creation of operating facilities for magnetization of weakly magnetic oxidized iron ores and waste of mining and processing plants and determination of optimal magnetization modes in connection with the improvement of iron ore concentrates production technologies

ABSTRACT

Report on the SRW: 1 book, 85 pages, 31 illustrations, 8 tables, 64 references.

The object of research is a collection of samples of goethite and hematite ores, samples of synthetic iron oxides and hydroxides.

The purpose of the work: Creation of operational laboratory installations for magnetization of weakly magnetic oxidized iron ores and waste of mining and processing plants and determination of optimal modes of magnetization, which will contribute to increasing the efficiency of technologies for the enrichment of weakly magnetic iron ore raw materials.

Research methods and equipment: magnetometry method (magnetometer with a Hall sensor), magnetic resonance method (EPR spectrometers RE-1306 (Russia), PS100X (Belarus)), X-ray diffraction method (DRON-4M), NGR spectroscopy, thermomagnetic studies.

Results and their novelty: A collection of weakly magnetic iron ore raw materials of various types was formed. A functioning laboratory facility has been created to determine the Curie temperature and identify magnetic minerals in ores and magnetic materials. A functioning laboratory facility was created for the conversion of significant quantities of weakly magnetic iron minerals into strongly magnetic ones during their recovery with biomass carbohydrates (rotary furnace). A device for rapid measurement of magnetization of ores and magnetic materials has been created. The device does not use weighing and therefore the magnitude of gravity does not affect the measurement of the force of interaction of the sample with the magnetic field, so the device can be used anywhere on Earth at any height above sea level, as well as in weightlessness, for example on Mars. With the help of the created installations and devices, it is shown that the optimal concentration of the reducing agent (biomass) for the conversion of hematite into magnetite at T=650°С is about 2%. It is shown that the reaction of transformation of hematite and goethite into magnetite begins already at a temperature of ~420°С. The novelty of the obtained results is that the transformation procedure does not require high temperatures and large amounts of reducing agents.

Recommendations for using the results of the work: the obtained results can be used to solve the problems of processing iron ores of Kryvyi Rih, as well as to solve environmental problems related to the disposal of dumps and tailings in Kryvyi Rih.
