Report on the SRW: 1 book, 91 pages, 42 illustrations, 23 tables, 19 references.

The object of the study is a collection of samples of goethite and hematite ores from deposits of the Kryvyi Rih ore region.

The purpose of the work: Development of new methods of transformation of weakly magnetic minerals (hematite, goethite) into strongly magnetic minerals (magnetite, maghemite), determination of optimal conditions for this transformation for various types of ores, and development of recommendations for the introduction of new technologies for the production of iron ore concentrates.

Research methods and equipment: magnetometry method (magnetometer with a Hall sensor), magnetic resonance method (EPR spectrometers RE-1306 (Russia), PS100X (Belarus)), X-ray diffraction method (DRON-4M), NGR spectroscopy, thermomagnetic studies.

Results and their novelty: A literature review of oxidized ferruginous quartzites of Kryvyi Rih was conducted. Collections of hematite and goethite ores from deposits of the Kryvyi Rih were created. The phase composition, magnetic characteristics, and chemical composition of samples from the created collections were studied. Relatively simple and cost-effective methods of converting weakly magnetic minerals (goethite, hematite) into strongly magnetic minerals (maghemite, magnetite) have been developed, including transformation in aqueous and dry environments. The transformation of the structure and magnetic characteristics of hematite and goethite ores in a dry medium is realized by their heat treatment in the presence of biorenewable raw materials (starch) in the temperature range of 300-600°C. Transformation of the structure and magnetic characteristics of hematite and goethite ores in an aqueous medium is realized by their heat treatment in the presence of ferrous salts at temperatures up to 100°C. It is shown that after special processing, weakly magnetic phases of goethite and hematite transform into strongly magnetic phases of magnetite and maghemite. The novelty of the developed methods is that the transformation procedure does not require high temperatures.

Recommendations for using the results of the work: the obtained results can be used to solve the problems of processing iron ores of Kryvyi Rih, as well as to solve environmental problems related to the disposal of dumps and tailings in Kryvyi Rih.
