ABSTRACT
Report on the SRW: 1 book, 85 pages, 45 illustrations, 5 tables, 31 references.
The object of research is a collection of iron ore samples of various types, samples of synthetic iron oxides and hydroxides.
The purpose of the work: determination of patterns of changes, under the influence of various types of reducing agents, of the magnetic properties of poor oxidized iron ores and wastes of iron ore plants, use of the obtained results to solve technological and environmental problems related to the production of iron ore concentrates.
Research methods and equipment: magnetometry method (Hall sensor magnetometer), X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (ARL Optim'X WD), X-ray diffraction method (DRON-4M), thermomagnetic studies.
Results and their novelty: Collections of natural iron oxides and hydroxides (magnetite, hematite and goethite ores from Kryvyi Rih and Kerch deposits) were created, as well as their synthetic analogues (magnetite, maghemite, hematite, goethite) were created. Methods of phase transformations of weakly magnetic iron oxides and hydroxides (hematite, goethite) into strongly magnetic minerals under the influence of three types of reducing agents have been developed: aqueous - for reduction with iron (II) salts, dry - for reduction with carbohydrates under the influence of temperature, gaseous - for reduction with carbon monoxide, and determined optimal characteristics of external factors (duration, temperature, concentration of reducing agents) of such transformations. Operational laboratory facilities have been created, with the help of which the low-energy transformation of weakly magnetic iron oxides/hydroxides into strongly magnetic iron oxides is carried out. The novelty of the obtained results is that the phase transformation procedure does not require high temperatures, expensive reagents and takes place in one step.
Recommendations for the use of the works results: the obtained results can be used to modernize the technological processes related to the enrichment of iron ores and the production of iron ore concentrates, to solve the environmental problems of Kryvyi Rih.
