In 2024, Ukrainian scientists were granted free access to the resources of leading publishers of scientific literature as part of the Research4Life project.
Supporting Ukraine in times of war, leading international publishing houses such as Elsevier, Springer Nature, John Wiley & Sons, Taylor & Francis, Emerald, Sage Publications, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, IOP Publishing and many others opened their collections.
A prerequisite for gaining access to Research4Life electronic resources is the institution's registration on the platform, obtaining login data and distributing them exclusively among employees of the relevant institution.
In order to use the resources of the Research4Life platform, the researcher must complete the following steps.
Step 1. Contact the head of the library, Grechanyuk T.S. (e-mail: library.igmr@gmail.com, office.igmr@gmail.com), responsible in the institution for providing consultations to the institution's employees on setting up access to the electronic resources of the Research4Life platform, and the method in which it is necessary to contact for clarifications and data for entering the platform (provide an email address or phone number, a Google form that must be filled out to send an application, etc.).
Step 2. From Grechanyuk T.S. (mentioned above) to receive the platform login data (login and password) to your email address, as well as to familiarize yourself with the license terms, which include, in particular, prohibition of publishing login data or transferring it to persons who are not employees of the institution.
Step 3. Start a session with Research4Life by performing the following actions:
- go to the unified general Research4Life portal (https://portal.research4life.org/) or in the "Collections" section of the portal, select one of the profile portals Hinari/AGORA/ARDI/GOALI/OARE;
- click on the icon
(Login) in the upper right corner of the screen;
- on the Research4Life Secure Login page, enter your username and password (step 2), and click the "Login" button (LOGIN).
A short English-language video instruction on logging in and using the Research4Life portal, and searching for the necessary information on it, is available to users at the link: bit.ly/3WNS9HI. The official YouTube channel of the State Scientific and Technical Library of Ukraine (hereinafter - the State Scientific and Technical Library of Ukraine) has posted a series of webinars in Ukrainian on gaining access, working with the Research4Life portal, and conducting an effective search for scientific literature at the link: http://surl.li/jxaolp. In addition, a Telegram group (http://surl.li/cphigt) has been created, which provides answers to the most frequently asked questions.
In case of questions regarding access to and use of the resources of the Research4Life portal, users can seek advice from the specialists of the National Directorate of Health of Ukraine, national coordinators of Research4Life at the email address: e-resource@dntb.gov.ua, research4lifeccukraine@gmail.com or by filling out the feedback form at the link: bit.ly/3oElPL7.
Also, on the website of the National Science and Technology Agency of Ukraine in the section dedicated to Research4Life, at the link: bit.ly/3PuvuWC, a "Frequently Asked Questions" page was created with answers to frequently asked questions regarding setting up access and using the platform.
