Department of Radiogeochronology

 

           The main direction of scientific research:    determination of the time of manifestation of geological processes, formation of minerals, rocks and ores by methods of radiogeochronology (U-Pb, Rb-Sr and Sm-Nd).

 

Analytical capabilities:

• Determination of the age of minerals, rocks and ores by the U-Pb isotopic method based on uranium-containing minerals.
• Determination of the isotopic composition of lead ores.
• Determination of the age of minerals and rocks by the Rb-Sr isotopic method.
• Determination of the primary Sr⁸⁷/Sr⁸⁶ isotope ratio to clarify the origin of rocks (upper crust – mantle).
• Determining the age of Sm-Nd rocks by the isotopic method.
• Determination of the primary Nd¹⁴³/Nd¹⁴⁴ isotope ratio to clarify the origin of rocks (upper crust – mantle).
• Analysis of the isotopic composition of metals (from Li  to U).
