M.P. Semenenko Institute of Geochemistry, Mineralogy and Ore Formation of NAS of Ukraine

Department of Physics of Mineral Structures and Biomineralogy

The main areas of activity: investigation of the structure, composition and properties of minerals, biominerals and their synthetic analogues using various physical methods; development and using of computer modeling methods of amorphization processes of the structure of minerals under the influence of autoradiation and the local structure and properties of isomorphic substitutions in minerals.

The list of works, that can be performed by the team of the department approximately various organizations or investors

  1. Development of technologies and laboratory equipment for the transformation of weakly magnetic iron ore raw materials into strongly magnetic raw materials, in connection with the production of iron ore concentrates from poor oxidized iron ores and waste from mining and beneficiation plants.
  2. Development of technologies and manufacturing of laboratory equipment for the separation of ore and non-ore components of iron ores, based on the combined effect of permanent and variable magnetic fields forming magnetic vortices.
  3. Development and testing of new technologies for cleaning large reservoirs from radionuclides using magnetic sorbents with a selective surface, which are removed from the reservoir after sorption.
  4. Development of technologies and production of magnetic textile fabrics for protection of biological and technical objects from electromagnetic waves of the microwave range.
  5. Development of technologies for creating synthetic analogues of biogenic nanomagnetite localized in brain tissues, which can be used for the development of new information storage and processing systems, as well as quantum computers.
