The list of works that can be performed by the team of the department:

           Qualitative and quantitative X-ray phase analysis;

  • Analysis of isomorphic mixture sandstructural control of microimpurities;
  • Study of the structural state of minerals (ordering, twinning, disintegration of solid solution) and substructure of crystals (mosaic, degree of crystallinity, microdeformations).

Devices:

X-ray diffractometry of polycrystals:

– qualitative and quantitative (2–3 phases) phase analysis,

– precise definition of crystal cell parameters,

– characteristic of the structure of rock-forming minerals and artificial crystalline compounds, structural microdeformations and determination of the degree of crystallinity of the substance.

Absolute measurement error Δ=0,015° 2q; relative – 0,5 %.

Mineral powders weighing at least 100 mg are used for research.

X-ray diffractometry of single crystals:

– determination of unit cell parameters, structural microdeformations and degree of crystallinity.

Absolute measurement error Δ=0,015° 2q; relative – 0,5 %.

For research, use 2-3 crystals with a size of 0.1–1.0 mm or plates cut from crystals with a size of at least 2×5 mm.

Devices: URS-60, photographic registration cameras RKV-86, RCD-57.3, RKU-114.

Microanalysis using the Debye-Scherer method:

– qualitative phase analysis,

– determination of the parameters of the elementary cell.

Relative measurement error 0,2 %;

From 2 to 5–10 mg of the substance is needed for the study.
