Laboratory of mass spectrometry of stable isotopes

Department of isotope geochemistry and mass spectrometry

    The laboratory studies the isotopic composition of carbon and oxygen. Isotopic composition of stable isotopes δ¹³С and δ¹⁸О measured from carbonates, graphites, organic compounds, and oxygen isotopic composition from oxygen-containing minerals.

    Sample preparation is carried out on three high-vacuum units based on chemical attachments for the MI-1201 mass spectrometer. Vacuum ~10^–7 mm of mercury column. Weight of minerals 10–20 mg. The isotopy of the prepared sample is measured on a mass spectrometer MI-1201B.

 

Basic parameters of the MI-1201V mass spectrometer:

Resolution with a gas source of ions is not less than 1400.

The range of mass numbers at U – 5 kW from 1 to 600; U – 10 kW from 1 to 300.

Sensitivity ± 0,02 %.
